About The Position

Paratransit, Inc. is seeking applications for a full-time Mechanic C position. This entry-level role involves performing routine preventive maintenance and basic repair work on buses, vehicles, and other equipment under close supervision. The successful candidate will assist with inspections and repairs, and be responsible for preventive maintenance tasks and supporting more complex maintenance activities. The work schedule is Monday through Friday from 12:00 PM to 8:30 PM, with occasional shifts starting as early as 5:30 AM for training or as needed. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.

Requirements

  • Valid California Class C Driver’s License, with a clean driving record
  • Must be able to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Passenger Endorsement upon hire
  • ASE Certification or successful completion of related field certification required, or 1-2 years of work experience
  • Tools and equipment of the mechanic trade provided
  • Must be reliable and responsible
  • Ability to learn the operation and repair characteristics of buses, trucks, vans, automobiles, and other equipment
  • Familiarity with mechanic tools, materials, and practices
  • Must pass a drug test (including marijuana)
  • Must be able to show proof of eligibility to work in the United States
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug testing (including marijuana) and a post-job offer physical are required

Nice To Haves

  • ASE Certification is preferred but not required
  • Knowledge of gasoline, diesel, and alternative fuel engines is a plus
