About The Position

The Mechanic Apprentice services, repairs, adjusts, tests, and inspects mobile equipment operating throughout the plant to maximize performance and reduce downtime. The role includes troubleshooting equipment problems, carrying out necessary repairs, safely handling and moving parts and tools, and maintaining accurate daily and monthly service documentation. The apprentice works in accordance with MSHA and Vulcan safety standards and performs physical tasks such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials. The position may require overtime and extended hours, work outdoors in all weather conditions, and exposure to loud noise.

Requirements

• Some knowledge of industrial tools, their uses, and maintenance.
• Willingness to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands.
• Ability to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate exposure to loud noises.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience working on diesel or heavy construction equipment.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Additional vocational or trade school training in a mechanical field.
• Knowledge of general principles and practices of servicing heavy construction equipment.

Responsibilities

• Prioritize safety for yourself and others in accordance with MSHA and Vulcan standards.
• Service, repair, adjust, and test mobile equipment operating throughout the plant to maximize performance and limit downtime.
• Inspect mobile equipment, troubleshoot the causes of errors, and perform repairs when necessary.
• Safely handle, install, position, and move parts, materials, and industrial hand tools throughout the shop and plant.
• Complete accurate daily and monthly documentation for mobile equipment and maintain service reports in written or electronic form.
• Perform physical activities including climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.
