As a member of maintenance reporting to the Reliability Engineer, the Reliability Technician performs tasks required to execute precision lubrication and predictive technology routes. The purpose of this role is to extend the life of plant assets, reduce costs and increase plant productivity. The predictive technologies will include data/sample collection for oil analysis, vibration analysis, infrared thermography (IR), ultrasonic emissions (UE), etc. This role is designed for the person to grow in knowledge and capability over time. The initial area of focus is precision lubrication and vibration data collection. Over time more technologies will be introduced and executed. Once the data and samples are collected, outside services will conduct the lab analysis and predictive technology analysis. The Reliability Technician is expected to learn when to apply different predictive technologies and how to react to the analysis results in order to deliver desired reliability improvements. Once a person accepts this position, they are required to obtain ICML’s MLT-1 certification within the first year. JHBP will provide study materials, training and coaching throughout the first year in support of achieving this requirement. In the second year, the person is required to obtain ISO Vibration Analyst Cat-1 certification. JHBP will provide study materials, training and coaching during the year in support of achieving this requirement. Upon earning these certifications, the person may qualify for advancement to Reliability Technician II.
