Under general supervision, the Mechanic 2 diagnoses, adjusts, repairs, maintains and repairs County vehicles and equipment including gas, diesel and propane powered engines. This role performs maintenance and major mechanical repair work on County vehicles and equipment, fabricates or modifies parts as needed, operates test equipment, and uses various hand and electric tools to perform repairs. The position also involves operating an overhead crane, pickup truck, and wrecker, performing road call emergencies, picking up supplies, and maintaining records of repairs and maintenance. Additionally, the Mechanic 2 records daily fuel use, completes time sheets, oversees the work of mechanics, maintains an adequate supply of parts, and performs welding and fabrication tasks.
