About The Position

Responsible for advanced maintenance and repair of industrial fabrication machinery and equipment, including pumps, conveyors, hydraulic systems, lubrication systems, and pneumatic systems. Work involves inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining milling equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Work is performed under minimal supervision with considerable latitude in the use of initiative and independent judgment. Position relies on experience to determine the best approach by using and interpreting policies and procedures.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED and four (4) years of experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial equipment, including some previous lead-worker responsibility or demonstrated ability to lead the work of others; OR a combination of experience, certification, education and training that demonstrates expertise in the related areas.
• Thorough knowledge of industrial machinery and equipment
• Thorough knowledge of safety protocols and compliance standards related to mechanical equipment operation
• Skill in using mathematics required for the work
• Skill in using diagnostic tools and equipment
• Ability to read manuals, blueprints, schematics, and diagrams
• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues and repair equipment
• Ability to work in hot, cold, wet, humid, dusty, and foggy working conditions depending on weather
• Ability to plan, assign, and guide the work of assigned staff
• Ability to follow instructions from supervisors and senior workers
• Ability to follow safety guidelines and protocols and perform job functions in a safe manner
• Ability to work rotating shifts, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, while maintaining consistent performance and adherence to operational standards.

• Tasks may involve some climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
• Tasks are regularly performed inside and/or outside with exposure to adverse environmental conditions (e.g., dirt, cold, rain, fumes).
• Some tasks require manual dexterity, in addition to visual and hearing acuity.
• Some tasks may involve identifying and distinguishing colors.
• Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate visual cues or signals.

Responsibilities

• Conducts routine to complex inspections and maintenance on centrifugal machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance and prevent breakdowns
• Monitors centrifugal machines, associated conveyors, and supporting systems to ensure continuous and efficient operation
• Ensures proper charging, spinning, washing, and discharge cycles to optimize sugar recovery and product quality
• Communicates operational status, delays or equipment concerns to supervisors
• Adjusts wash cycles, spin times, and operational parameters as needed
• Performs routine inspections and minor troubleshooting of centrifugal equipment
• Coordinates planned maintenance activities with the maintenance department
• Ensures proper cleaning and housekeeping of the centrifugal station
• Identifies mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues with equipment and performs necessary repairs, including replacing or repairing defective parts
• Diagnoses and resolves machinery malfunctions in a timely manner
• Installs and calibrates replacement parts and components as needed; maintains accurate records of all replacements and repairs
• Performs performance tests, inspections, and quality control procedures to ensure the machinery meets safety and operational standards
• Maintains detailed records of maintenance and repair activities, including work orders and equipment history
• Works closely with other maintenance personnel and supervisors to resolve issues and maintain efficient operation
• Trains and mentors centrifugal mechanic helpers
• Works collaboratively with other team members and supervisors to achieve project goals
• Ensures the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times
• Follows organizational safety guidelines and protocols, performs job functions in a safe manner, and reports all safety hazards per established policies and procedures
