About The Position

Quality Repair Solutions (QRS Shops), a fully owned division of Quality Carriers, Inc., provides tractor and trailer maintenance through a network of more than 60 repair and maintenance shops. The Mechanic 1 diagnoses and repairs tractors and trailers, performs required inspections, and helps ensure equipment meets federal standards. The position also involves moving trailers around the facility, identifying needed parts and supplies, following safety and environmental procedures, and maintaining an orderly work area.

Requirements

• Able to learn and demonstrate vehicle and equipment theory, principles, and repair related to diesel engines and air, electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
• Able to learn and demonstrate tractor and trailer maintenance, DOT rules and regulations, and company policies and procedures.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent vocational-school education; preferred but not required.
• Experience diagnosing and repairing tractors and trailers.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair tractors and trailers.
• Perform annual and systematic 90-day equipment inspections as required.
• Ensure equipment meets Federal FHWA standards.
• Operate a yard hostler truck to move trailers within the facility yard and shop as needed.
• Identify parts and supplies as needed.
• Follow established OSHA safety and environmental policies and standards, including procedures for identifying, using, handling, and disposing of hazardous waste.
• Clean, organize, and maintain the work environment to support equipment longevity and workplace safety.
• Use welding equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
