About The Position

As a Lead Reading Corps Interventionist, you’ll work with students in kindergarten through third grade, helping them build the reading skills and confidence they need to succeed in school and beyond. You’ll support students one-on-one or in pairs using evidence-based, scripted interventions. Lead Interventionists are experienced Corps members who continue delivering student interventions while also providing informal support to other members at their site or within their region. Note: please only apply if you are currently serving as an AmeriCorps member with Michigan Education Corps.

Requirements

  • Must be currently serving with Michigan Education Corps as an AmeriCorps member in the 2025-26 program year.
  • Must be 18 years or older by start date
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident
  • Ability to pass required background checks
  • Fewer than 4 prior AmeriCorps State/National service terms

Responsibilities

  • Tutor K-3 students 1:1 or 1:2 during the school day to strengthen reading skills
  • Follow evidence-based, scripted interventions that are easy to learn and designed for consistency
  • Build positive, encouraging relationships with students
  • Track student progress with simple tools and guidance
  • Offer guidance and peer support to fellow Corps members serving at your site and/or within your region.
  • Be part of a supportive team of tutors, coaches, and school staff

Benefits

  • Stipend: $1,325.10 - $1,258.80 every other week before taxes (~$2,650.20 - $2,517.60 per month before taxes)
