Meatcutter Apprenticeship Instructors teach aspiring Meatcutters within the Washington State Meatcutters and Fishmongers Program. This program is a partnership between UFCW Local 3000, the State of Washington Department of Labor and Industries, retail meat and grocery employers, and local community colleges, administered by WeTrain Washington. The goal is to share industry knowledge, skills, and techniques to develop apprentices into highly skilled journey Meatcutters. The Meatcutters Apprenticeship is a two-year program that runs from September-June over three academic quarters, with no teaching during the summer months. Instructors average about four hours of in-person instruction per week, with classes taking place between 5:30pm and 9:30pm. Classes begin September 8, 2026.
