About The Position

The Meat Clerk at Sprouts Farmers Market works in the Meat Department, providing friendly, prompt customer service and maintaining product knowledge and safe food-handling practices. Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.

Basic knowledge of math, weights, and measures.

Must be capable of standing continuously for up to 4 hours and for a total of 8 hours per shift; must be able to walk up to 2 miles per 8 hours.
Ability to work inside a temperature-controlled area.
Good vision required for using sharp knives, a band saw, grinder, sausage maker, box cutter, wrapping machine, and tenderizer.
Ability to lift or carry products weighing 25 to 90 pounds between heights of 4 and 60 inches, up to 10 feet, for 20 hours.
Ability to use a pallet jack to move pallets weighing up to 500 pounds horizontally, requiring force up to 85 pounds, up to 100 feet, for up to 5 hours.
Ability to horizontally move racks of products weighing up to 70 pounds, requiring force up to 25 pounds, up to 50 feet, for up to 10 hours.
Ability to move tables weighing up to 70 pounds, requiring force greater than 35 pounds, up to 2 feet, for up to 1 hour.

Responsibilities

Provide prompt, friendly customer service and assist customers with questions, special orders, and other needs.
Maintain product knowledge and knowledge of weekly advertised items; direct customers to products throughout the store.
Receive, store, and grind meats.
Unload and transport fresh, cured, and boxed meats and poultry from delivery trucks.
Count and weigh incoming items and compare the results against invoices.
Examine and rotate meats in storage to avoid aging.
Practice safe food-handling procedures and follow department procedural guidelines and company recipes.
Follow the “Clean as You Go” and “Fresh at 4” programs.
Perform general department housekeeping and clean and sanitize work areas, including tables, floors, walls, cases, coolers, and freezers.
Follow safety, health, and weights and measures regulations.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
