Join Our Team as a Meat & Seafood Assistant Manager at Middlebury Natural Foods Co-op! If so, we'd love for you to become our next Meat Assistant Manager! Our meat department operates under the Grocery department and oversees all Fresh and Frozen, and Specialty Meat and Seafood. This role involves supervising and motivating a dynamic team of staff in a fast-paced retail environment.

Requirements

  • Retail Experience in natural foods with a focus on Meat, Seafood, or Prepared Foods
  • Proven success in managing and developing teams.
  • Commitment to high-quality service and product knowledge.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, mentor, and motivate Meat & Seafood department staff, fostering a professional, respectful, and team-oriented environment.
  • Lead by example on the floor, set clear expectations, and build a culture of accountability, pride, and strong work ethic.
  • Take an active role in hiring, onboarding, and training new employees.
  • Provide ongoing coaching, performance feedback, and evaluations to help team members grow their skills in meat handling, food safety, and customer interaction.
  • Ensure every customer receives knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive service.
  • Assist customers with product questions, special requests, and cooking recommendations, while training staff to do the same with confidence and professionalism.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing department that reflects quality and freshness.
  • Ensure all displays are well-stocked, properly rotated, and meet food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Oversee scheduling, task delegation, and workflow within the department to ensure smooth daily operations and consistent service coverage.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety guidelines, while reinforcing best practices with the team.
