This role is responsible for keeping meat department cases well stocked and appealing to meet customer demand, greeting and assisting customers, taking orders, resolving customer concerns, setting up displays, rotating product, ensuring meat is fresh and saleable with proper pricing and signage, handling spoiled or expired product according to company procedures, and removing non-saleable product. The associate may also grind and cut meats and poultry, weigh and wrap merchandise, and maintain logs for freshness and quality. Adherence to all food and personal safety codes, and general sanitation in the department are crucial. This includes following cleaning schedules and department guidelines to ensure work areas, equipment, and counters are well-maintained and meet health and OSHA requirements. Proper disposal of trash and emptying bone cans are also responsibilities. The role aims to minimize shrink and control damages, reporting any shortages or overages to the manager. Assistance with receiving, unloading, checking-in, breaking-down, and storing deliveries may be required, along with baling cardboard. Cooperation with co-workers and superiors is expected to ensure smooth department and store function, with a focus on continuous job performance improvement and utilization of company-provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). The associate may also be called upon to assist in other departments.
