About The Position

Gateway Co-operative Limited is hiring a Meat Operator on a permanent full-time basis out of their newly opened food store in Sturgis, Saskatchewan. Gateway Co-operative Limited is currently seeking a community-minded Meat Operator to help lead our meat department. In this role, the successful applicant will be responsible for the daily operations for the meat department.

Requirements

  • 1 – 2 years of experience in a retail environment with 1 years of management experience in a fast-paced retail environment; experience within the Co-op Retailing System (CRS) would be an asset.
  • Experience as a meat cutter is a requirement.
  • Demonstrate effective team leadership skills and have the ability to work well within a multigenerational, highly motivated team.
  • Able to build relationships and collaborating to deliver solutions that matter most and recognize the value that different perspectives bring to meet shared objectives.
  • Must possess a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 driver’s license and clean abstract.
  • Must have a clear criminal record and be bondable.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience within the Co-op Retailing System (CRS) would be an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the Co-operative’s standard for guest service excellence and resolve customer concerns according to established guidelines.
  • Ensure that assigned staff are consistently deliver excellent guest service during their shifts.
  • Provide information, assistance, and courteous service to customers, actively promoting merchandise sales at all times.
  • Maintain and display all meat products following departmental procedures, ensuring products are fresh, properly rotated, and fully stocked.
  • Place inventory replenishment orders through suppliers and supplier representatives as needed, and accurately complete mark-down reports.
  • Notify the Branch Store Manager of special or out-of-stock merchandise requested by customers.
  • Prepare, wrap, price, stock, and verify prices of merchandise as assigned.
  • Observe all safety measures and immediately report hazardous conditions to the Branch Store Manager.
  • Adhere to disciplinary procedures and report any necessary corrections to the Branch Store Manager.
  • Record and extend inventory at the end of each period.
  • Perform general housekeeping and sanitation duties in accordance with Co-op standards.
  • Operate equipment required for preparing merchandise for sale.
  • Maintain equipment by monitoring case temperatures, cleaning regularly, and notifying the supervisor about needed repairs.
  • Assist in training new meat cutters and meat department associates.
