About The Position

Pembina West Co-op is recruiting for a Meat Manager at the Food Store in Mayerthorpe, AB. The Meat Manager will focus on building public awareness and profitability of our Meat department. This individual will identify areas of financial and operational concern and will work with our food store management team to correct these deficiencies by demonstrating day-to-day behaviors and actions that align with and strengthen the Co‑operative’s vision, mission, values, brand, and a focus on safety. The Meat Manager is part of the Food Team and reports directly to the Food Store Manager. The Meat Manager will work in concert with the Food Team, Controller, Human Resource’s, and Loss Prevention Managers to ensure the optimal operation of the Meat department.

Requirements

  • 3+ years relevant management experience
  • Strong knowledge of retail, food, or Meat in particular
  • Superior planning, organizational and prioritization skills
  • Ability to identify measures of performance and actions needed to improve or correct performance
  • Strong coaching, and mentoring abilities
  • Effective leadership skills, with a strong focus on employee engagement
  • Ability to manage and motivate a large group of people
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office programs (including Word, Outlook, and Excel)
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving abstract
  • Ability to adapt to new technology
  • Excellent internal and external customer service skills
  • High level of integrity and work ethic
  • Ability to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times
  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing
  • High flexibility with strong interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse environment
  • Ability to respond quickly in a dynamic and changing environment
  • Great team leader who will always lead by positive example
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
