About The Position

South Country Co‑op is seeking a Meat Manager to lead the planning, operations, and performance of their Meat Department. Reporting to the Food Store Manager, this role is responsible for the overall leadership and success of the Meat Department. This includes delivering exceptional guest service, achieving financial and operational targets, maintaining food safety and merchandising standards, and leading, developing, and engaging a high-performing team.

Requirements

  • Retail Meat Cutting Certificate and/or 3–6 years of relevant retail experience
  • Minimum 3 years of supervisory or leadership experience, preferably in a meat department
  • At least 1 year of hands‑on meat cutting experience
  • Strong knowledge of retail meat operations and food safety requirements
  • Proven leadership, coaching, and employee engagement skills
  • Excellent organization, communication, and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, changing environment with integrity and professionalism
  • Competent in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • High flexibility with strong interpersonal skills, enabling you to work effectively in a diverse, collaborative, and customer‑focused environment
  • A results-driven and continuous improvement mindset, focused on operational excellence and customer satisfaction
  • Demonstrate the Co-op values of customer focused, builds awesome teams, and communicates effectively in every aspect of work

Responsibilities

  • Lead the day‑to‑day operations of the Meat Department, including production, merchandising, inventory, and food safety
  • Achieve budgeted goals related to sales, margin, expenses, and inventory
  • Recruit, train, coach, and develop team members, fostering a positive and engaged work environment
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, workplace health & safety, and company policies
  • Deliver legendary guest service and maintain high department presentation standards
  • Collaborate with store leadership and support continuous improvement initiatives
  • Act as a brand ambassador, living the Co‑op values in all interactions
