About The Position

The Meat Manager oversees the daily operations of the Meat Department to ensure high standards of product quality, food safety, customer service, and financial performance. This role is responsible for department staffing, merchandising, inventory control, shrink management, and compliance with all company and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Previous meat cutting and retail meat department experience required
  • Strong knowledge of meat cuts, yields, and production planning
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
  • Effective communication, coaching, and problem‑solving skills
  • Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays

Nice To Haves

  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise all Meat Department operations, including cutting, wrapping, merchandising, and sanitation
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and temperature control standards
  • Manage inventory levels, ordering, receiving, and rotation to maximize freshness and minimize shrink
  • Schedule, train, coach, and evaluate department associates
  • Monitor department sales, labor, gross margin, and shrink targets
  • Maintain attractive product displays and ensure proper pricing and signage
  • Address customer questions, special orders, and service concerns promptly
  • Enforce company policies, safety procedures, and regulatory requirements
  • Partner with store leadership to achieve operational and financial goals
  • Complete required production logs, food safety checks, and operational reports
  • Uphold all federal, state, and local food safety regulations
  • Ensure proper handling, storage, and preparation of meat products
  • Maintain clean work areas, equipment, and display cases
  • Lead corrective actions when standards are not met
