About The Position

Responsible for producing consistent, high-quality food to be served in the meat, seafood cases. Provides excellent and knowledgeable customer service. Meets or exceeds all standards of food safety and minimizes waste.

Requirements

  • Provides excellent customer service by actively engaging and educating customers about department products.
  • Knowledge of how to cut pork, beef, lamb and chicken.
  • Must know how to follow recipe directions.
  • Knowledge of smoking meat.
  • Skilled in the use of scales, wrap stations, vacuum sealer and other applicable equipment.
  • Previous food service experience required.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently.
  • Ability to work closely and cooperatively with others.
  • Proven ability to provide excellent, professional customer service by projecting a friendly, outgoing presence and maintaining a respectful demeanor at all times.
  • Ability to handle multiple demands, remain calm, think quickly, prioritize effectively, and problem solve within established guidelines.
  • Ability to work well with others in a cooperative environment where teamwork, compassion and constant communication are essential.
  • Ability to meet expectations of regular, predictable attendance and to work a flexible schedule including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to maintain current food handler card.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous meat cutting experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of all meat cuts – pork, beef, lamb, chicken, and a variety of seafood that are sold at the Co-op.

Responsibilities

  • Produces consistent, high-quality food to be served in the meat, seafood cases.
  • Provides excellent and knowledgeable customer service.
  • Meets or exceeds all standards of food safety and minimizes waste.
  • Practices quality control standards of the Department.
  • Wraps meat and seafood in accordance with Department standards.
  • Prepares variety of meats to cut, debone, grind, wrap, label, and stock.
  • Fillets fish to keep stock levels fresh and full in case.
  • Practices proper rotation in accordance with Department Standards.
  • Strictly follows health and sanitation practices.
  • Maintains order and cleanliness in back stock areas, including walk-in cooler, freezer, dry storage, and packaging back stock areas.
  • Labels and prices products prior to display.
  • Sets up case in accordance with Department Standards.
  • Maintains attractive, clean product displays in service and self-serve meat, seafood cases.
  • Practices proper stock rotation, FIFO “first in first out”.
  • Detail oriented in all aspects of merchandising, including proper pricing, sell by dates, packed on dates and proper signage in accordance with Department standards.
  • Follows ordering guidelines and practices as directed by Manager.
  • Checks in and receives all product as directed.
  • Reports cost changes, shortages or miss picked items to Manager.
  • Records all credits identified upon product receipt.
  • Handles paper work consistent with established practices in our HACCP Plan.
  • Pays close attention to detail with all aspects of ordering/receiving in accordance to Department standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.
