About The Position

This role provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service within the Meat and/or Seafood Department. Responsibilities include wrapping, trimming, stocking cases, and receiving merchandise. The position requires adherence to strict sanitation and hygiene guidelines, and maintaining a clean and neat work area. It is a fast-paced environment with continuous exposure to cool temperatures, dampness, noise, cleaning solvents, and potential electrical shock.

Requirements

  • Must be 18+
  • Ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or verbal instructions; deal with a few concrete variables.
  • Ability to do simple addition and subtraction; copying figures, counting and recording.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions; write identifying information; request supplies orally or in writing.
  • High School or equivalent experience.
  • Food safety training.
  • Six months or less of similar or related work experience.
  • Ability to exert up to 85 pounds of force occasionally; exert up to 40 pounds of force frequently; and exert up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Visual requirements include vision from less than 20 inches to more than 20 feet with or without correction, depth perception, color vision, and field of vision.
  • Must be able to perform climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.

Responsibilities

  • Provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service.
  • Wraps, weighs, and labels product.
  • Reviews food for freshness, stocks cases, and rotates product.
  • Trims steaks, roasts, and chops, and prepares seafood for display.
  • Ensures the work area is always clean and neat, practicing proper sanitation procedures.
  • Replenishes and organizes coolers.
  • Reports out-of-stock products to appropriate personnel.
  • Trays, slices, tenderizes, and grinds product.
  • Removes trash in a timely manner.
  • Maintains strict adherence to department and company guidelines related to personal hygiene and dress.
  • Reports to work when scheduled and on time.
  • Prepares some signs for the department.
  • Orders replenishment merchandise as directed by management.
  • Assists in other areas of store as needed.
  • Performs other job related duties and special projects as required.
