About The Position

The Meat Deli Clerk is responsible for acknowledging, greeting, and engaging guests entering their department. They will utilize suggestive selling and other sales techniques. This role involves ordering product to ensure adequate supply, maintaining product quality, freshness, and proper variety. Receiving duties include breaking down loads, cutting cases, stacking, pricing, and marking merchandise, organizing storage areas, and refrigerating products immediately. The clerk will ensure cost, quality, and inventory control by verifying orders against invoices, auditing product cases, and completing necessary forms and reports. Responsibilities also include stocking, rotating, and facing product, preventing shrink and damage, and following code dating procedures. They will open and set up the butcher block case, and close and pull it down according to company procedures. The clerk will follow their daily work schedule, dress code, and attendance guidelines as outlined in the associate handbook. Meat wrapper duties may be assigned, and the clerk will assist with training new associates. They will also fill and maintain the fresh meat counter and replace market supplies as necessary. Other duties may be assigned or requested by management.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, but efficient and controlled manner.
  • Ability to perform all physical aspects of meat department duties including standing, bending, lifting, squatting, reaching, twisting, climbing, and walking.
  • Ability to lift up to a height of 4 feet, items weighing up to 100 lbs. on a regular basis and push and pull fully loaded hand trucks and pallet jacks.
  • Hands are frequently exposed to 30F while handling product in the display cases.
  • Manual dexterity and good eye-hand coordination are necessary.
  • Must be able to operate related equipment including scales, knives, band saws, meat tenderizers, meat slicers, and grinders and keep accurate records.
  • Ability to work for periods of up to 8-10 hours in 50 degree temperatures (controlled atmosphere for sanitation purposes).
  • Ability to function as an associate and get along with others.

  • Ensure cost, quality, and inventory control through verifying orders against invoices, auditing contents of product cases, and completing necessary forms and reports accurately.
  • Stock, rotate, and face product, prevent shrink and product damage, and follow code dating procedures.
  • Open and set up the butcher block case and close and pull it down according to company procedures.
  • Follow daily work schedule as assigned by management.
  • Follow dress code in accordance with the associate handbook.
  • Follow attendance and tardiness guidelines in accordance with the associate handbook.
  • Perform meat wrapper duties as assigned by management.
  • Assist with training new associates.
  • Fill and maintain the fresh meat counter according to management guidelines.
  • Replace market supplies as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested by management.
