About The Position

The Meat Cutter contributes by providing excellent customer service, ensuring product safety, managing inventory and stock, expertly using meat cutting skills, possessing product knowledge, maintaining department orderliness, collaborating with the team, and participating in cross-training across various departments to ensure seamless store operations and consistent customer service.

Requirements

Demonstrated ability in knife handling, other cutting equipment, and safety procedures

Nice To Haves

Customer service experience preferred
Basic knowledge of meat cuts and cooking techniques preferred

Responsibilities

Greet customers warmly, assist customers in selecting the best cuts of meat, provide recommendations, and answer questions
Follow safety protocols to prevent contamination and ensure meat is handled and stored properly
Set and maintain meat and seafood case and display
Follow first-in, first-out (FIFO) principles to ensure older stock is sold first, reducing waste
Safely and expertly use hand-tools and powered equipment such as grinders, cubing machine, and power saws to cut meats
Understand different cuts and types of meat, providing knowledgeable advice to customers
Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and overall organization of the department including all fixtures, storage, work stations, freezers, and coolers
Work closely with other team members to ensure smooth store operations and provide support as needed
Participate in cross training to gain knowledge and skills in multiple departments within the grocery store, such as produce, bakery, and customer service
Assist in other departments as needed, ensuring seamless store operations and consistent customer service
Adapt to varying roles and responsibilities, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to support team members across different areas of the store
