About The Position

The Meat Cutter position is a full-time role responsible for various tasks within the meat department of a retail store. This includes handling meat products from receiving to display, ensuring product quality and freshness, adhering to safety and sanitation standards, and providing excellent customer service. The role requires physical stamina and attention to detail to meet operational and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

At least 3 years of experience in cutting meat and related products
Experience in customer service
Ability to travel
Close vision and the ability to adjust focus
Verification of identity and eligibility to work in the United States
Compliance with California Fair Employment and Housing Act (Ban the Box Law) for applicants with criminal histories

Nice To Haves

California Food Handler Certificate preferred
Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish)
High school diploma, GED or equivalent preferred

Responsibilities

Follow approved procedures for receiving, weighing, and breaking down meat products.
Assist in wrapping and labeling products as required.
Assist in checking and verifying meat department receiving and taking products to refrigerated storage, shelf, and display areas.
Contribute to controlling freshness and product quality; handle damaged and spoiled products according to company policy.
Work the meat lugs daily to reduce shrink and improve gross.
Assist in keeping refrigerated cases and display shelves properly stocked and faced.
Code date and rotate all prepared cuts or product placed in temporary storage areas.
Maintain full compliance with all state and county government weights and measures laws.
Observe security standards by staying alert and reporting abnormal customer behavior.
Greet all customers and maintain good customer relations by providing prompt and courteous service.
Ensure a favorable department image by contributing to a clean, attractive, and friendly department.
Maintain good housekeeping and sanitation standards in compliance with store policy and state and local health regulations.
Maintain good communications with department leader and coworkers.
Comply with safety policies and procedures.
Use and maintain equipment in good working order; immediately communicate maintenance or equipment problems to management.
Follow all department programs such as known-loss tracker, shelf life, and production planning.
Perform any other work-related duties as assigned.
