Requirements

  • Ability to operate meat cutting equipment safely (slicers, saws, grinders)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in meat handling, retail, or food service is an asset
  • Knowledge of meat cuts, storage, and safe handling procedures is an asset
  • Journeyman Meat Cutter Certificate – preferred
  • Previous experience in customer service role preferred

Responsibilities

  • Receive, inspect, store, and prepare meats, fish, and seafood, using knives and equipment to cut, fillet, and trim products for sale.
  • Ensure compliance with co-op and government food safety, sanitation, and health standards.
  • Maintain stock rotation (FIFO) and complete all required logs and charts (e.g., grinder and temperature logs).
  • Provide excellent customer service by greeting customers, assisting with product inquiries, and ensuring a positive shopping experience.
  • Package, wrap, display, and price meat products; assist with large or special orders.
  • Follow production charts and stock control sheets to maintain displays and ensure compliance with quality and food safety standards.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties to maintain safe, clean, and organized work areas, including sharpening equipment and monitoring refrigeration temperatures in compliance with food safety standards.
  • Maintains tools and equipment, disposes of garbage and debris, assists with regular cleanups, and reports any concerns to the team leader.
  • Perform receiving duties when required

  • Provide outstanding courteous customer service
  • Be familiar with and adhere to all Ucluelet Co-op policies and procedures
