The Meat Cutter is responsible for maintaining the desired level of fresh meat production, ensuring the cleanliness of the department and equipment, and upholding customer service and product quality, freshness, safety, and selection standards. This role involves adhering to company customer service programs, handling customer relations positively, receiving and breaking down meat loads, and maintaining product quality through proper storage and temperature compliance. The position requires cutting, grinding, weighing, and wrapping fresh meat products according to procedure, controlling shrink, preventing the sale of spoiled product, and accurately completing required paperwork. The Meat Cutter also maintains and organizes the meat department cooler and freezer, ensures sanitation of the sales floor and equipment, and meets product quality, trimming, grinding, packaging, labeling, rotation, and wrapping standards. Merchandising product according to schematics, advertising, and signing procedures is also a key responsibility, along with complying with retail labeling laws and regulations. The role involves following company policies for pricing and handling re-worked or reduced-to-clear items, and adhering to all health, food handling, and safety standards. Additionally, the Meat Cutter assists customers with special orders, makes product suggestions, engages in suggestive selling, and answers incoming calls. Performing all job duties safely, accurately, and with integrity is essential. Other necessary duties may also be assigned.
