About The Position

New Seasons Market, a part of Good Food Holdings, is seeking skilled team members who share their commitment to serving communities with high-quality products and great service. This role is for a temporary Meat Clerk position, expected to last 90 days, with a minimum of 25 hours per week. The Meat Clerk will be responsible for preparing, stocking, cutting, weighing, and wrapping products in the Meat and Seafood department, while also providing exceptional customer service and contributing to a positive team environment. The company operates 7 days a week, and this role requires availability between 6 am and 9:30 pm, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

  • Must complete and maintain any required food and work safety trainings/certifications.

  • Ability to occasionally (1 – 33%) lift 100 pounds while participating in a team lift.
  • Ability to frequently (34 – 66%) lift, push, pull, or carry objects weighing 50 pounds. Team lifts are encouraged for any objects over 50lbs.
  • Required frequently and up to continuously to be on feet with a mix of standing and walking throughout shift.
  • Frequently required to use hands and wrists for grabbing, twisting and pulling.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous customer service, food service, retail or grocery experience preferred.
  • Basic knife skills preferred, with ability to learn and properly use knives and blades in a commercial environment.
  • Knowledge of retail Meat and Seafood departments / prior meat / butcher industry specific experience a bonus.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares Meat and Seafood department for store opening and closing.
  • Assists customers with product selection, shares product knowledge, and makes recommendations based on customer needs.
  • Prepares, cuts, wraps, weighs, tares, prices, and presents Meat and Seafood department products.
  • Stocks and maintains meat and seafood cases.
  • Completes customer special orders thoroughly and provides follow-through.
  • Stocks, rotates, and faces products, paying attention to quality and expiration dates.
  • Handles damaged and spoiled product according to company policy.
  • Receives and unloads merchandise, checking quality, count, and condition, and communicating any issues to management.
  • Maintains cleanliness, organization, and rotation of all areas, products, and supplies.
  • Maintains accurate pricing and signage that meet merchandising standards.
  • Understands and complies with specific shift guidelines, tasks, and responsibilities.
  • Maintains awareness of current ads, promotions, holidays, and events.
  • Demonstrates familiarity with products in the department, including terminology, cuts, recommended uses, vendor information, and labeling, with an ability to continue learning.
  • Notifies department manager or Manager On Duty of any situations relating to customer service, safety, productivity, security, or any other situation that may adversely affect the store.
  • Performs other tasks and duties as assigned.
