About The Position

Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service in the Meat and/or Seafood Department. Responsibilities include wrapping, trimming, stocking cases, and receiving merchandise. The role emphasizes customer interaction, teamwork, and adherence to sanitation and company guidelines.

Requirements

  • Ability to carry out detailed written or verbal instructions.
  • Ability to deal with a few concrete variables.
  • Ability to do simple addition and subtraction; copying figures, counting and recording.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions.
  • Ability to write identifying information.
  • Ability to request supplies orally or in writing.
  • High School or equivalent experience.
  • Food safety training.
  • Six months or less of similar or related work experience.
  • Ability to exert up to 85 pounds of force occasionally, up to 40 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Vision requirements include vision from less than 20 inches to more than 20 feet with or without correction, depth perception, color vision, and field of vision.
  • Must be able to perform climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
  • Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.

Responsibilities

  • Provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service.
  • Learns customers' names and addresses them by name whenever possible.
  • Assists customers by escorting them to products, securing products, loading/unloading items, and noting customer suggestions.
  • Answers the telephone and provides friendly, helpful service, including taking customer orders.
  • Works with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
  • Wraps, weighs, and labels product.
  • Reviews food for freshness, stocks cases, and rotates product.
  • Trims steaks, roasts, and chops, and prepares seafood for display.
  • Understands and practices proper sanitation procedures and ensures a clean work area.
  • Replenishes and organizes coolers.
  • Reports out-of-stock products to appropriate personnel.
  • Trays, slices, tenderizes, and grinds product.
  • Removes trash in a timely manner.
  • Maintains strict adherence to department and company guidelines related to personal hygiene and dress.
  • Reports to work when scheduled and on time.
  • Prepares signs for the department.
  • Orders replenishment merchandise as directed by management.
  • Assists in other areas of the store as needed.
  • Performs other job-related duties and special projects as required.
