About The Position

Prepares, stocks, cuts, weighs and wraps Meat and Seafood department products. Provides exceptional customer service and contributes to a positive and collaborative team environment. This role involves engaging customers in a friendly manner, working a schedule that meets business needs (which may change seasonally or due to staffing), and demonstrating reliable attendance. The position requires a solutions-oriented approach to problems, representing company values, and fostering an inclusive and respectful workplace. It also involves giving and receiving constructive feedback, conserving company resources, adhering to work and food safety policies, maintaining store cleanliness, and demonstrating sound judgment in all tasks and interactions. Requirements

  • Must complete and maintain any required food and work safety trainings/certifications.
  • Works a schedule that is informed by the needs of the business and may be subject to change seasonally or due to varying staffing needs and demonstrates reliable and predictable attendance, in accordance with attendance policy and all applicable laws.

  • Ability to occasionally (1 – 33%) lift 100 pounds while participating in a team lift and ability to frequently (34 – 66%) lift, push, pull, or carry objects weighing 50 pounds. Team lifts are encouraged for any objects over 50lbs.
  • Required frequently and up to continuously to be on feet with a mix of standing and walking throughout shift.
  • Up to occasionally, dependent on location, required to climb stairs, step stool and /or ladders.
  • Frequently required to use hands and wrists for grabbing, twisting and pulling.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous customer service, food service, retail or grocery experience preferred.
  • Basic knife skills preferred, with ability to learn and properly use knives and blades in a commercial environment.
  • Knowledge of retail Meat and Seafood departments / prior meat / butcher industry specific experience a bonus.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares Meat and Seafood department for store opening and closing.
  • Assists customers with product selection, shares product knowledge, and makes recommendations based on customer needs.
  • Prepares, cuts, wraps, weighs, tares, prices, and presents Meat and Seafood department products.
  • Stocks and maintains meat and seafood cases.
  • Completes customer special orders thoroughly and provides follow-through as needed.
  • Stocks, rotates, and faces products with attention to product quality and expiration dates.
  • Handles damaged and spoiled product according to company policy.
  • Receives and unloads merchandise; checks quality, count, and condition. Communicates any issues to management and merchandising team.
  • Maintains cleanliness, organization, and rotation of all areas, products, and supplies.
  • Maintains accurate pricing and signage that meet merchandising standards.
  • Understands and complies with specific shift guidelines, tasks, and responsibilities.
  • Maintains awareness of current ads, promotions, holidays, and events.
  • Demonstrates familiarity with products in the department, including terminology, cuts, recommended product uses, vendor/supplier information, and product labeling, with the ability to continue learning.
  • Notifies department manager or Manager On Duty of any situations relating to customer service, safety, productivity, security, or any other situation that may have an adverse effect on the store.
  • Performs other tasks and duties as assigned.
