About The Position

BJ's Wholesale Club is seeking a Part-Time Meat Clerk to join their team. This role involves receiving, rotating, wrapping, and merchandising fresh and processed meats, as well as assisting with seafood, rotisserie chickens, prepared foods, and cheeses. The Meat Clerk will provide assistance to members by answering questions and recommending products, while also maintaining all cleaning and safety standards within the meat department. Team members are expected to carry out job functions with honesty, integrity, and a focus on member service, while working collaboratively in a safe and positive environment. A daily commitment to GOLD Member Standards (Greet, Anticipate, Appreciate; Fast, Friendly, Full, Fresh, Clean) and GOLD club standards is expected, ensuring a grand opening look daily with all items stocked, promotions executed, and a clean, organized environment.

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience working with fresh and processed meats preferred.
• Knowledge of automatic/hand wrapping machines preferred.
• Prior experience working in a meat and/or deli department preferred.

Responsibilities

• Receives, rotates, wraps, and merchandises fresh and processed meats.
• Assists in merchandising seafood, rotisserie chickens, prepared foods, and cheeses.
• Provides assistance to Members by answering questions and recommending products.
• Maintains all cleaning and safety standards within the meat department.
• Carries out job functions and responsibilities as assigned.
• Supports the application of club policies, procedures and compliance.
• Ensures a safe and positive environment for members and colleagues.
• Delivers service excellence through all points of contact.
• Resolves and deescalates to address every member concern.
• Ensures a safe and positive environment and experience for members.
• Greets, anticipates, and appreciates members.
• Ensures the department is fast, friendly, full, fresh, and clean.
• Works as a team to deliver GOLD club standards daily.
• Works with commitment and pride to deliver a Grand opening look daily.
• Ensures all items are stocked and promotional plans are executed.
• Maintains visible accurate signage.
• Keeps the department clean and organized, inside and out.
• Understands how to access and read production and/or financial performance reporting for the department.
• Answers questions regarding meats, poultry, and seafood, and makes recommendations on food products.
• Weighs, packages, wraps, and labels cuts of meat, poultry, and seafood, including grinds.
• Assists the meat cutter in packaging freshly cut meats and seafood.
• May grind hamburger meat.
• Inspects and stores meat upon delivery, ensuring quality standards are met.
• Ensures the meat, seafood, prepared foods, and cheese cases are fully stocked.
• Rotates meats, poultry, seafood, prepared foods, and cheeses according to expiration dates.
• Follows established guidelines when disposing of damaged and/or expired products.
• Receives and unpacks meat, poultry, seafood, prepared foods, and cheeses in the meat cooler and freezer.
• Cleans and sanitizes all equipment, display fixtures, and areas in the meat department, including the meat cooler, freezer, and refrigerated display cases.
• Maintains all club policies and procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned, including working in other departments as needed.
• Maintains regular, predictable, full attendance.
