About The Position

The Measurements and Quality Engineer / Supervisor leads a team responsible for the measurement technologies that enable product quality and manufacturing performance. This leader owns metrology equipment reliability, measurement system capability, MSA compliance, and implementation of new measurement technologies. Success in the role requires a blend of technical expertise, people leadership, statistical problem-solving, and project management to ensure measurement systems provide accurate, actionable data that drive operational and quality excellence.

Requirements

  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills, especially related to mechanical and electronic systems
  • Methodical, data-based decision-making skills with the ability to use this data in proactively finding solutions
  • Understanding of basic statistical and data analysis concepts and their application in manufacturing
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)

Responsibilities

  • Lead team of engineers and technicians to maintain current measurements technology to include coordinating with internal and external engineering resources to deliver glass measurements, equipment accuracy and reliability
  • Responsible for the metrology department and capital budget
  • Develop integration and receivership plans for new metrology gauges and requirements
  • Complete and maintain Measurement System Analyses for all key quality gauges, noting and acting on any opportunities for improvement
  • Provide guidance and training on the use of engineering principles and data to troubleshoot operational issues related to online and offline glass measurements
  • Support experiments and developments on multiple products which vary in dimension, texture and composition
  • Drive the use of KT, risk assessment, DMAIC, innovation and other tools to deliver results
  • Track and report on critical gauge performance and capability metrics
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and correct measurement and gauge equipment issues
  • Provide guidance/training to other personnel, primarily operations, to support 24/7 measurements
  • Onboard and validate new procedures and gauges through project work and SOP development
