The Measurement Support Engineer is a highly collaborative role responsible for ensuring the highest level of quality through the measurement and inspection process. This position works across Inspection, Manufacturing, Engineering, and the CMM programming team to identify measurement discrepancies, develop robust measurement systems and inspection methodologies aligned with technical data package (TDP) requirements, and support production efficiency and compliance through first-line measurement verification and troubleshooting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, or a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of engineering experience with a focus in Quality or Inspection.
  • Thorough understanding of various measurement technologies (Zeiss, OGP, MicroVu) and experience in Measurement Systems Analyis, Measurement Development, and Measurement Control.
  • Working knowledge of Quality tools and problem-solving techniques such as 5-Why, Fishbone Diagrams, and FMEA.
  • Proficient in Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Thorough understanding of Measurement Systems Analysis. Gage R&R, Repeatability testing, Correlation testing, and Control System methodologies.
  • Experience with Root Cause Analysis and Advanced Problem Solving methodologies.
  • Thorough understanding of CMM/Vision Programming, operation, and troubleshooting.
  • Hands-on inspection experience, including interpretation of technical drawings and specifications.
  • Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) methods and application.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience with CNC machines or background in machining operations is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with new product introductions, first run program validations, and measurement investigations, acting as the primary responsible contact to ensure startup efficiency.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing and Engineering teams to gain a thorough understanding of project requirements, timelines, and prioritization of workflow through the measurement process.
  • Identify and troubleshoot measurement discrepancies to ensure measurement system accuracy and effectiveness through the measurement process.
  • Assist with Measurement System Analysis activities and provide control system support at specified intervals to ensure measurement accuracy and minimize measurement discrepancies.
  • Assist with verification of measurement fixturing options to reduce part fixturing interactions, contributing to higher measurement variation.
  • Collaborate with Process Quality Engineering and CMM Programming to further refine measurement methodology to develop robust measurement and inspection processes.
  • Evaluate process variation to identify measurement vs process contribution and identify opportunities to reduce measurement variation, thus improving the overall capability of the process.
  • Collaborate with Process Quality Engineering, Quality Technicians, and Machinists to define and implement standardized manual inspection methodologies.
  • Other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
