About The Position

The MDS CoordinatorRN is responsible for adhering to processes related to the RAI process, MDS, and applicable billing. This includes participating in daily, weekly, and monthly meetings, using required forms, and maintaining required communication. The role also involves adherence to policies and procedures, timely completion of MDS Assessments and tracking tools according to federal and state regulations, and contributing to the creation, maintenance, and updating of resident-specific care plans with each MDS completion. The MDS CoordinatorRN may function as a nursing backup representative for care conference meetings and monitors the work of staff in nursing and other departments who contribute to care plans and MDS Assessments, ensuring the work of IDT members involved in the RAI process is complete. Data entry on MDS Assessments and care plans is also a responsibility when required assessments are completed. The role requires staying current with changes in the RAI process by attending workshops and reading literature, and presenting this information to facility staff as appropriate. In-service and one-on-one training sessions in the RAI process are to be performed as identified and as time allows. Accurate coding of MDS with information obtained from medical record review, resident, family, and staff interviews is essential. The MDS CoordinatorRN must adhere to safety and infection control policies and procedures according to universal precautions, respect and maintain residents’ dignity, individuality, privacy, and confidentiality, and promote positive public relations for the facility. Adherence to the facility dress code and maintaining good personal hygiene practices are expected. A courteous, tactful, and helpful manner with residents, families, visitors, and fellow employees is required, along with conscientious attendance within the standards of personnel policies and adherence to the facility Code of Conduct. Other job duties as assigned by the direct supervisor will also be performed.
