This position is responsible for ensuring the accurate completion and submission of all sections and disciplines of the MDS (Minimum Data Set). The MDS Coordinator ensures regulatory compliance set by CMS (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services) and the RAI (Resident Assessment Instrument) Manual by staying up-to-date on the latest regulations, conducting audits, and implementing corrective measures to ensure maximum reimbursement through CMS. The role involves implementing and updating other required assessments, ensuring accurate resident assessments, and initiating the need for significant changes and corrections. The MDS Coordinator will meet with staff and educate them on discrepancies in ADL (Activities of Daily Living) coding or documentation/assessment requirements. This role also ensures resident care plans are initiated, up-to-date, resident-centered, and that correct interventions are developed, implemented, and evaluated for effectiveness. The MDS Coordinator conducts comprehensive assessments and evaluations, documents findings, and ensures regulation compliance by collecting and analyzing resident data. They are responsible for signing necessary documents and coordinating MDS-related IDT (Interdisciplinary Team) meetings. Additionally, the MDS Coordinator coordinates, leads, and documents weekly care plan meetings, attends scheduled MDS/IDT/Care Plan meetings, and ensures daily and weekly documentation requirements for specific resident types are obtained and correct. This position serves as a resource person for all disciplines regarding the RAI process, care planning, and resident assessments, and initiates MDS-related staff in-services as needed. The role may involve performing other assigned duties within the Nursing department's mission, assisting in emergency declarations, working the floor/cart during critical staffing needs, and serving in the Nurse on-call rotation.
