Working with Higher Command (HICOM), Information Operations (IO) planners, Exercise Control (EXCON), Joint Effects Division (JED), and Opposing Forces (OPFOR) elements, the Media Site Lead directs the media team at satellite exercise locations, comprised of part-time members to produce and manage media storylines, products, and injects across print, broadcast, and social mediums-primarily from adversary perspectives-to enable units to train against realistic influence and information effects.

  • Familiarity with current Army and Joint doctrine.
  • BS/BA degree with 5+ years of military experience, or high school education with 10 years military experience.

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years combined experience in journalism, broadcast production, public affairs, or a closely related field supporting military training or operations.
  • Demonstrated experience producing multimedia content (video, audio, digital/social, and print) and scripting interview/broadcast segments.
  • Familiarity with Information Operations concepts, adversary information tactics, and exercise control processes (EXCON/JED).
  • Strong writing, storytelling, and message development skills; ability to craft persuasive narratives for multiple audiences.
  • Proficiency with media production tools (video/audio editing, social publishing platforms, content management systems) and common office software.
  • Excellent coordination and communication skills; ability to work in a high-tempo exercise environment and adapt media outputs in real time.
  • Prior experience supporting MCTP, Combat Training Centers (CTCs), or large-scale joint/coalition exercises.
  • Experience working with OPFOR, EXCON, or HICOM teams and knowledge of Rules & Workarounds adjudication.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a media operations team of part-time media specialists at satellite exercise locations to design, script, and deliver multi-medium media products (internet content, social media posts, television/radio segments, print articles, broadcast interviews, and word-of-mouth style effects) that align with exercise storylines and training objectives.
  • Produce event-based media MSEL injects and IO storylines that are synchronized with the exercise's Road to War and other scenario elements.
  • Replicate adversary media operations and narrative themes (enemy perspective) while ensuring content is unclassified/declassified for exercise use and compliant with exercise rules and workarounds.
  • Conduct on-camera interviews, voice recordings, and simulated broadcast productions as requested by the Government; manage on-site media production assets and personnel during exercise execution.
  • Operate and manage contested information domain activities in simulation and real-world play areas, including deployment of social media-like outputs and tracking audience effects where appropriate.
  • Coordinate closely with IO Scenario Writers, the JED, EXCON, HICOM, and Rules & Workaround Committee to ensure media actions are authorized, timed, and adjudicated per exercise R&W guidance.
  • Maintain a media product library and database that documents all media outputs, timing, message themes, and MSEL links; update live as exercise events evolve.
  • Train, monitor, and advise OPFOR and exercise participants on media engagement techniques, likely adversary narratives, and expected effects.
