The Marine Corps' Prepositioning (MCPP) Program is based on Blount Island in Jacksonville, Florida, with duty assignment aboard a ship in Guam, Saipan, or Diego Garcia. This role provides maintenance and logistics services to the U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) and U.S. Navy. The Shipboard Mechanic (Motor Transport) performs basic automotive mechanic duties incident to inspection, maintenance, and repair of the Ordnance family of vehicles, which include LAV, AAV, M1A1, AVLB and Towed Artillery. These are diesel-powered vehicles with utility systems or special hydraulic, pneumatic or mechanical systems features, and controls designed for combat, logistical or other special applications. The role also provides technical assistance, guidance, or training to lower-level mechanics and assists higher-level mechanics. Other tasks as assigned.
