About The Position

The Automation Engineer provides in-house capability of designing, testing, and improving automated system solutions in various mechanical and digital environments by optimizing processes and creating a stable production environment. This role involves cultivating and fostering trusting relationships across the organization to cohesively implement automation improvements. The engineer will diligently analyze processes, tooling, and metrics to provide possible solutions to production inefficiencies, tooling cost reductions, and machine usability efficiency. They will also review, update, and create automation processes for the production floor that ensure maximum productivity and quality products.

Requirements

  • Strong programming skills
  • Automation experience
  • PLC experience
  • Ability to read and decipher electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic blueprints
  • Standard model interpretation
  • Machine to Robot Integration experience
  • Strong mathematical aptitude (Trigonometry and Geometry)
  • An associate degree in Automation (Programming, Robotics, Machine Technology) and 4 years of advanced manufacturing experience or 6 years of advanced manufacturing experience.

  • Four-year Engineering degree (Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical) and 2 years advanced manufacturing experience.

Responsibilities

  • Design, test, and improve automated system solutions.
  • Optimize processes and create a stable production environment.
  • Analyze processes, tooling, and metrics to identify solutions for production inefficiencies, tooling cost reductions, and machine usability efficiency.
  • Review, update, and create automation processes for the production floor.
  • Administer and manage automation training to ensure team members are competent and capable robot operators.
  • Work with supervisors to provide thorough training to all machinists on automation and best practices.
  • Seek learning on new automation and robotic technology.
  • Stay abreast of technological advancements and actively seek opportunities for improvement within the organization and professionally.
