About The Position

The Mathematics Teacher will teach middle school mathematics for grades 6–8 in a long-term substitute role. The position supports an all-students classroom program, promotes Rhode Island and Common Core standards, and contributes to department professional development and the co-teaching model.

Requirements

• Appropriate Rhode Island certification as a Mathematics Teacher for grades 6–8.
• Relevant credentials.
• Relevant successful experience.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Positive attitude.
• Successful interview.
• Other qualifications may be considered appropriate by the Screening Committee.

Responsibilities

• Support a vision that reflects an all-students classroom program.
• Adhere to the R.I. Educator Code of Professional Responsibilities.
• Work with colleagues, parents, students, and administrators.
• Know and use technology in the teaching and learning process.
• Apply knowledge of curriculum, standards, grade-level and grade-span expectations, and performance assessment.
• Promote and support the R.I. High School Diploma System, R.I. Grade Span/Grade Level Expectations, and the Common Core Standards.
• Promote and facilitate Professional Learning Community goals in department professional development.
• Support the co-teaching model.
