About The Position

Math Corps is hiring Math Tutors to provide math support to K–3 students at Hoover Elementary. Tutors work with groups of up to three students for 20–30 minutes at a time on each school day, following a schedule until all assigned students have received tutoring. They help students build math skills and confidence, encourage and celebrate progress, and support students as they return to their classrooms between sessions. Training, coaching, and proven tutoring activities are provided. The position runs from August 2026 through June 2027. Full-time members serve 35 hours per week, with fewer hours during weeks that include holidays or school release days; part-time positions of 25 hours per week are also available. Hours are during the school day, Monday through Friday, with holidays and school release days off. Full-time AmeriCorps members receive a stipend every two weeks. Requirements

• Be dependable and have a history of good attendance.
• Be able to follow instructions and improve based on feedback.
• Have basic computer skills, including email and navigating online.
• Be fluent in spoken and written English, including reading.
• Be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent by the start of service.
• Be a U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident.
• Successfully complete a background check.

Responsibilities

• Be a caring adult focused on helping children thrive.
• Lead tutoring sessions and follow a schedule to ensure students receive support.
• Track student progress and meet regularly with the school's on-site coach.
• Conduct skill assessments and enter student scores in data software.
• Participate in coaching and training and commit to personal growth.
• Share the tutoring experience with the community.
• Help students return to their classrooms between tutoring sessions and transition to the next group.
