About The Position

The Math Teacher will report to the Assistant Principal of Math and Science. This role involves teaching the district-approved curriculum, preparing lesson plans, and instructing assigned classes. The teacher will create a conducive learning environment, guide student learning towards curriculum goals, and evaluate student academic and social growth. Responsibilities include keeping records, preparing progress reports, and being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside of the instructional day. The position also involves supervising students and overseeing paraprofessionals for instructional purposes.

Requirements

  • A master's degree in the instructional area.
  • Valid DESE Massachusetts Teaching Certificate in Math.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals.
  • Ability to write reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of students, parents, teachers, and the general public.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Must possess the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Ability to implement lessons based on division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers, and parents.
  • Ability to work effectively with all staff at all levels of the school district.
  • Skills in oral and written communication is required.

  • At least 5 years of experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Teaches district-approved curriculum and prepares lesson plans accordingly.
  • Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
  • Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
  • Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students.
  • Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
  • Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, communicating these objectives to students.
  • Evaluates student's academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records, and prepares progress reports.
  • Is available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day.
  • Performs any other relative teaching duties as assigned.
  • Supervises students and oversees paraprofessionals for instructional purposes.
