About The Position

Innovation Charter High School is a mission-driven public charter high school in New York City serving students with ambition, care, and urgency. The school is seeking a NYS certified Math Teacher in an Integrated Co-Teaching (ICT) classroom. This role involves supporting students in developing conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, and mathematical reasoning aligned to Regents and Common Core standards. The educator will partner closely with special education teachers and content teams to ensure all learners can access rigorous math instruction and build confidence as problem-solvers. The school emphasizes a culture of growth, collaboration, reflection, and high expectations, aiming to create new ways of supporting students and working together as colleagues.

Requirements

  • New York State Mathematics Teaching Certification for grades 7-12 required, or an active pathway toward certification.
  • Bachelor’s degree required

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Special Education or related field
  • 3+ years of teaching experience, ideally in New York City schools or urban public/charter settings
  • Experience supporting adolescents with IEPs in inclusion settings
  • Familiarity with Regents-aligned instruction, Common Core standards, and NYC special education systems (including SESIS)
  • Experience using assessment data to inform instruction and intervention

Responsibilities

  • Co-plan, co-teach, and co-assess in inclusive math classrooms
  • Design lessons that build conceptual understanding and real-world application
  • Differentiate instruction to support diverse learning needs
  • Use modeling, guided practice, and inquiry-based strategies
  • Analyze data to improve student mastery of mathematical concepts
  • Support students in solving multi-step problems and explaining reasoning
  • Develop procedural fluency alongside conceptual understanding
  • Strengthen student ability to justify mathematical thinking verbally and in writing
  • Prepare students for Regents-aligned assessments
  • Engage actively in feedback, coaching, and professional learning
  • Collaborate with colleagues to improve practice and student outcomes
  • Contribute to a culture of reflection, curiosity, and continuous improvement
  • Help create classrooms and a school community rooted in belonging, safety, and high expectations
