About The Position

The State & Federal Paraeducator works under the direction of the Math Coach and/or the classroom teacher with identified children as required by the program curriculum. The Paraeducator keeps accurate records on activities with students as required by the program guidelines. This is a guaranteed Title I funded position for the 2026-2027 School Year only at this time. The position is 19.5 hours per week.

Requirements

  • Good communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Must meet State and Federal Program requirements for Highly Qualified (i.e. at minimum, an Associate's Degree, 60 hours of college credit, OR successful score on the ETS ParaPro Assessment).
  • Ability to work with staff members.
  • Ability to work well under direction of program coordinator, Math Coach, and classroom teacher.
  • Show evidence of initiative and enthusiasm.
  • Ability to keep accurate records on activities with students as required by program guidelines.
  • May be required to take a skills test.
  • Ability to speak and write effectively.
  • Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical situations.
  • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral format and deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Associate's Degree, 60 hours of college credit, OR successful score on the ETS ParaPro Assessment.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience as a paraeducator.
  • Previous experience working with students who are academically at risk.

Responsibilities

  • Keep accurate records on activities with students as required by the program guidelines.
  • Understand the program guidelines.
  • Understand and support Huron Valley State & Federal Program objectives.
  • Assist the Math Coach in identification of academically at-risk students.
  • Work under the direction of the Math Coach and/or classroom teacher with identified children as required by the program curriculum.
  • Participate in regularly scheduled in-service sessions, both at the local and county level.
  • Attend staff meetings when requested.
  • On an as needed basis paraeducator employees may be required to attend to a student whose needs include routine medical procedures or assistance with regular hygiene.
  • Perform any other duties as required by the program coordinator, Math Coach or classroom teacher.
