About The Position

The Interventionist is responsible for supporting student achievement by providing individual or small group instruction to students who are in need of additional support. Interventionists are responsible for providing consistent, intensive and targeted supplementary instruction to identified students while monitoring, reporting and communicating progress and performance.

Requirements

  • Valid Michigan teaching certification OR Bachelor's degree or higher in content area.
  • Must meet highly qualified criteria in content area taught, which includes certificate endorsement in the appropriate area(s).

Responsibilities

  • Establishes a caseload of students based on criteria identified in the School Improvement Plan.
  • Plans and implements differentiated instruction using district resources.
  • Conducts regular benchmarking to establish levels for all students.
  • Demonstrates cultural competencies through Culturally Responsive Teaching.
  • Utilizes data to drive instruction and modifies instructional practices focused on what is best for students.
  • Plans and prepares daily lesson plans that are adjusted where needed.
  • Coordinates instruction within the teachers, instructional coaches, and U Prep Network Directors.
  • Integrates all aspects of the teaching and learning cycle into classroom procedures and instruction.
  • Seeks and builds positive relationships with students.
  • Develops relationships with students by supporting and participating in school events and activities.
  • Ensures a safe, supportive, and productive environment for students.
  • Sets and maintains high academic expectations for students.
  • Works with students and the greater school community in using Restorative Practices and Principles to build relationships and to promote a culture of fairness and respect for all.
  • Promotes teamwork within the learning community.
  • Serves as a member of the Student Study Team.
  • Incorporates core values into all work, projects, and interactions with members of the school community.
  • Actively engages parents in the learning process and works collaboratively with families and community members, remaining sensitive to different cultures, values, and/or needs.
  • Seeks and builds relationships with professional organizations.
  • Resolves parent concerns and communication timely, respectfully, and effectively.
  • Drafts, updates, and submits lesson plans and data analysis action plans on a consistent basis.
  • Takes accurate attendance in a timely manner.
  • Maintains professional credentials and submits updates to the Human Resources Department prior to expiration dates.
  • Responds to requests from the School Operations Team for any required actions or documents to maintain accurate and complete records and meet reporting deadlines.
  • Actively contributes to a professional community that focuses on instruction and high student achievement.
  • Seeks opportunities to develop their skills and knowledge.
  • Actively participates in school-level and network professional development opportunities.
  • Implements recommendations and best practices acquired through professional development, continuing education, observation, coaching, and evaluation.
  • Utilizes effective instructional practices responding to the needs of each scholar.
  • All other duties as assigned.
