About The Position

Innovation Charter High School is seeking a dedicated Math Interventionist to provide targeted support for students needing additional time, scaffolding, and instruction to access grade-level content. This role is crucial in helping students develop conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, and mathematical confidence. The interventionist will work collaboratively with math teachers, special education teams, and student support staff to ensure aligned instruction and interventions, contributing to a learning environment rooted in belonging, encouragement, and high expectations. Requirements

  • New York State Teaching Certification (Math and/or Students with Disabilities required), or active pathway toward certification.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Special Education or related field.
  • 3+ years of teaching experience, ideally in New York City schools or urban public/charter settings.
  • Experience supporting adolescents with IEPs in inclusion settings.
  • Familiarity with Regents-aligned instruction, Common Core standards, and NYC special education systems (including SESIS).
  • Experience using assessment data to inform instruction and intervention.

Responsibilities

  • Provide small-group math intervention aligned to students’ individual learning needs and academic goals.
  • Diagnose skill gaps using assessment data, classroom performance, and student work to design responsive instruction.
  • Use evidence-based intervention strategies to strengthen conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, and mathematical confidence.
  • Monitor student progress and adjust instruction to accelerate growth.
  • Collaborate closely with math teachers, special education teams, and student support staff to ensure aligned instruction and interventions.
  • Contribute to student support planning, progress monitoring, and family communication as needed.
  • Help create a learning environment rooted in belonging, encouragement, and high expectations.
  • Engage actively in feedback, coaching, and professional learning.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to improve practice and student outcomes.
  • Contribute to a culture of reflection, curiosity, and continuous improvement.
  • Help create classrooms and a school community rooted in belonging, safety, and high expectations.
  • Adapt high quality instructional materials (HQIM) to meet the needs of your students.
