About The Position

Great Oaks Charter School - Bridgeport is seeking a Math Intervention Teacher for their middle school. This role involves working alongside the 8th-grade math teacher daily to support student learning. The Math Intervention Teacher will co-plan and co-teach lessons aligned with the grade-level curriculum during whole-group instruction. During small-group instructional time, this role will be responsible for providing targeted pull-out intervention to identified students, aiming to increase their access to grade-level curriculum. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Connecticut educator certification, or eligibility for certification based on applicable credentials and college transcripts, appropriate for teaching middle school mathematics.

  • Experience using assessment data to identify unfinished learning and plan targeted instruction.

Responsibilities

  • Co-plan Grade 8 mathematics instruction with the classroom math teacher, aligned to the adopted curriculum and Common Core State Standards.
  • Co-teach designated portions of whole-group instruction to increase student access to grade-level mathematical content.
  • Maintain primary instructional responsibility for identified intervention students during designated small-group instructional periods.
  • Plan and deliver targeted small-group mathematics intervention aligned to student needs and the current grade-level unit of study.
  • Use diagnostic, formative, and progress-monitoring data to identify student needs, establish goals, adjust intervention, and document student growth.
  • Maintain required intervention records, including student participation, instructional dosage, progress-monitoring results, and other program data.
  • Collaborate with the Grade 8 math teacher and instructional coach to ensure continuity between core instruction and intervention.
  • Maintain consistent communication with families regarding student progress.
  • Build strong student relationships while maintaining an urgent, respectful, and positive learning environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned that are aligned with the responsibilities, purpose, and instructional goals of a teaching position.
