About The Position

The Math Instructor will teach district-approved curriculum, prepare lesson plans, and meet and instruct assigned classes. The role involves planning a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students, creating a conducive learning environment, and guiding the learning process towards curriculum goals. The instructor will evaluate student growth, maintain records, prepare progress reports, and be available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day. Additional teaching duties as assigned are also part of the role. The instructor will supervise students and oversee paraprofessionals for instructional purposes.

Requirements

  • A master's degree in the instructional area.
  • Valid DESE Massachusetts Teaching Certificate in Math.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals.
  • Ability to write reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of students, parents, teachers, and the general public.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Must possess the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Ability to implement lessons based on division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parents; ability to work effectively with all staff at all levels of the school district; skills in oral and written communication is required.

  • Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and in alignment with the goals, establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and the like to communicate these objectives to students.
  • Evaluates student's academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records, and prepares progress reports.
  • Is available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day.
  • Any other relative teaching duties as assigned.
  • Supervises students and oversees paraprofessionals for instructional purposes.
