About The Position

The Math Coordinator will coordinate tutorial services offered in the Center for Academic Support (CAS), supervise all math services, and manage the CAS database. This role involves hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating math tutors, as well as providing individual and group tutoring. The coordinator will also assist with the general operation and administration of the Center, serve as a liaison between the Center and the Math department, and manage the Center’s online scheduling system, TracCloud. Additionally, the position requires maintaining the CAS database and website, planning and leading educational workshops, and teaching one general studies mathematics course per semester.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Math or Math Education
  • One to three years of experience in teaching and/or tutoring
  • A minimum of 18 hours of graduate work in mathematics
  • Knowledge of teaching and tutoring skills
  • Good supervisory and management skills
  • Proficient in computer software and programs
  • Ability to maintain the Center’s website
  • Organized thinker with exceptional attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work
  • Ability to concentrate on multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function

Nice To Haves

  • College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) experience
  • College level tutoring and/or teaching experience

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate math services offered by the Center for Academic Support
  • Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate math tutors
  • Provide individual and group tutoring in math as needed
  • Assist the Director and other coordinators with the operation and administration of the Center, including covering the front desk and approving student employee timesheets
  • Serve as liaison between the Center and the Math department
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to coordinate and implement new services
  • Manage the Center’s online scheduling system, TracCloud
  • Communicate with the I.T. department and Redrock Software regarding TracCloud
  • Manage TracCloud user access across campus departments
  • Provide training for staff and students on TracCloud
  • Oversee tutor and student schedules within TracCloud
  • Maintain CAS database and website
  • Assist with data collection for special populations or university programs
  • Distribute center usage reports to academic departments
  • Plan and lead educational workshops
  • Develop educational resources
  • Develop workshops for a variety of student groups
  • Prepare and make presentations for Registration Days, Griffon Edge and other on-campus organizations
  • Teach one (three credit hour) general studies mathematics course in Fall and Spring semesters based on department need
  • Maintain professional contacts and an awareness of practices and standards in the learning center field
  • Stay current with relevant research
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
