The Maternity Nursing Assistant will be a vital part of the team, monitoring patient vitals, assisting with patient mobility and hygiene, performing hourly rounding, and assisting RNs with procedures like IV and Foley catheter discontinuation. This role also involves tracking daily weights, conducting blood sugar testing, feeding and weighing newborns, and supporting RNs during deliveries. Additionally, the assistant will provide 1:1 safety companion care when needed. Clerical duties include chart construction, answering phones, and operating office equipment. During neonatal stabilization, the assistant will serve as a scribe for the RN team. Maintaining cleanliness of patient rooms, delivery areas, offices, and common spaces is also a key responsibility, including operating floor cleaning equipment and managing linen and scrubs.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor patient vitals
  • Assist patients with ambulation and hygiene needs
  • Perform hourly rounding
  • Perform IV and Foley catheter discontinuation under RN guidance

  • Operate floor cleaning equipment (buffing, waxing, wet mopping, carpet shampooing)
  • Organize linen carts
  • Ensure scrubs are ready
