About The Position

A leading healthcare organization is seeking experienced Maternal-Fetal Medicine Ultrasound Technologists to join its high-risk obstetric imaging team in Yuma, Arizona. This specialized position works directly with Maternal-Fetal Medicine physicians and focuses on advanced fetal imaging throughout all stages of pregnancy. The technologist will perform detailed first-, second-, and third-trimester examinations, fetal echocardiography, growth assessments, Doppler studies, transvaginal imaging, and other advanced obstetric ultrasound procedures. Previous high-risk Maternal-Fetal Medicine ultrasound experience is required. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced OB sonographer looking to deepen their expertise in complex fetal imaging while working in a highly specialized perinatology environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Associate degree in Ultrasound Technology or completion of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program
  • Current ARDMS registration
  • RDMS credential with an OB/GYN specialty
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification
  • Previous high-risk Maternal-Fetal Medicine ultrasound experience
  • Proficiency with advanced Maternal-Fetal Medicine ultrasound competencies
  • Experience performing diagnostic obstetric ultrasound examinations in all trimesters
  • Experience with: First-trimester dating and early anatomy, Detailed second- and third-trimester anatomy, Fetal growth assessments, Transvaginal ultrasound, Doppler studies, Fetal echocardiography, Multiple gestation imaging, Genetic sonography, Multiplanar imaging
  • Strong knowledge of fetal anatomy, maternal anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with Maternal-Fetal Medicine physicians
  • Strong attention to detail, clinical judgment, and communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Two or more years of ultrasound experience
  • Nuchal Translucency certification
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Extensive experience with high-risk pregnancies and complex fetal abnormalities
  • Experience assisting with amniocentesis or other ultrasound-guided invasive procedures
  • Experience working in a dedicated Maternal-Fetal Medicine or perinatology imaging center
  • Specialized MFM Imaging Experience
  • Candidates should be comfortable performing or assisting with: First-trimester aneuploidy screening, Early fetal anatomy assessment, Detailed fetal anatomy surveys, Fetal growth monitoring, Umbilical, middle cerebral artery, and other Doppler assessments, Screening and diagnostic fetal echocardiography, Multiple gestation surveillance, Genetic sonography, Cervical assessment, Transvaginal imaging, Ultrasound guidance for invasive diagnostic testing, Advanced multiplanar and post-processed fetal imaging

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive Maternal-Fetal Medicine ultrasound examinations across all trimesters
  • Conduct first-trimester dating and early fetal anatomic assessments
  • Perform detailed and targeted second-trimester fetal anatomy examinations
  • Perform third-trimester growth, anatomy, Doppler, and antenatal surveillance studies
  • Conduct transabdominal and transvaginal ultrasound examinations
  • Perform screening and diagnostic fetal echocardiography
  • Conduct advanced fetal Doppler studies for a variety of clinical indications
  • Perform imaging assessments for multiple gestations
  • Complete genetic sonograms and advanced multiplanar fetal imaging
  • Perform image post-processing when required for diagnostic purposes
  • Assist physicians during ultrasound-guided procedures, including genetic amniocentesis and other invasive diagnostic procedures
  • Evaluate cervical length and other pregnancy-related gynecologic findings
  • Assess adnexal pathology and Müllerian anomalies when relevant to pregnancy
  • Review patient history and symptoms to ensure appropriate imaging protocols are followed
  • Explain procedures clearly to patients and families and assess the patient's ability to tolerate the examination
  • Recognize abnormal or concerning findings and communicate appropriately with Maternal-Fetal Medicine physicians
  • Produce high-quality diagnostic images in accordance with established protocols
  • Complete image documentation, procedural records, and charges accurately and promptly
  • Perform equipment checks and report malfunctions for repair
  • Participate in modality-specific quality assurance and quality-control programs
  • Maintain compliance with applicable regulatory standards
  • Follow obstetric imaging protocols consistent with American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine standards
  • Maintain current clinical knowledge through ongoing education and professional development
