About The Position

As a Physician in Maternal-Fetal Medicine, you will work with a team of healthcare professionals committed to providing quality care and excellent patient experience. In this role, you will join our nationally renowned MFM Division, which includes 27 MFMs serving six states. Intermountain Maternal-Fetal Medicine centers provides comprehensive care to individuals with high risk pregnancies. Our MFM physicians serve as models for other providers by adhering to evidence-based practice, developing standards of care, fulfilling vital administrative roles and supporting education. Strong candidates will demonstrate a commitment to collegiality and adherence to vetted clinical guidelines. Those with research funding receive protected time. MFM physicians may apply for clinical appointments in the University of Utah Department of OB/GYN for teaching fellows, residents, and medical students. Opportunities also exist to train family medicine residents and medical/osteopathic students. You will be one of two MFMs based primarily at St. Vincent Hospital in Billings, Montana, in addition to being supported on site by 6 traveling partners from Salt Lake City. Consultative practice with outpatient care provided in satellite clinics (average travel: two days per month). Participate in telehealth virtual consults. Unrestricted call of 1:4–1:5, shared with our larger MFM team. If desired, travel to Utah every 2–3 months for collaboration and education. Optional inpatient care if desired.

Requirements

  • Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Maternal-Fetal Medicine
  • U.S. ACGME OB/GYN Residency and MFM Fellowship
  • Active, unobstructed Montana medical license, or the ability to obtain one
  • Full prescriptive authority and an active DEA, or the ability to obtain one
  • Ability to successfully complete Intermountain Health’s credentialing process

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert consultation for high-risk pregnancies, managing complex maternal conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, and autoimmune disorders.
  • Perform and interpret specialized imaging tests, including detailed fetal ultrasounds, fetal echocardiograms, and Doppler studies to assess fetal anatomy, growth, and blood flow.
  • Conduct invasive prenatal diagnostic procedures, which may include amniocentesis, chorionic villus sampling (CVS), and fetal blood sampling.
  • Work within a multidisciplinary team involving general obstetricians, neonatologists, genetic counselors, registered dieticians, and nurses to develop and implement comprehensive care plans.
  • Support labor and delivery teams with high-risk assessments, and in some cases, manage the delivery of the baby when ongoing specialized care is required.
  • Participate in teaching and mentoring medical students, residents, and fellows, and contribute to clinical research and quality improvement initiatives.
