About The Position

The Registered Nurse in Maternal Child Health practices, teaches, and/or supervises nursing care in a community setting. This role is responsible for the care of assigned clients and families by acting as the main care coordinator. The nurse carries out nursing skills contributing to treatment and rehabilitation, prevention of disease, and conservation of health. The nurse provides case management including data collection, assessment, treatment, teaching, planning implementation and evaluation. The omission of specific statements of duties does not preclude them from this position if the work is similar and is a logical assignment to this position.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school or nursing: must possess at minimum, a Bachelor’s Degree (for CIS), preferably in Nursing. A Bachelor's degree in a related field will be permissible by the discretion of the management team.
  • Must possess a current Vermont Registered Nursing license and CPR certification.
  • One year minimum of clinical experience as a Registered Nurse
  • Experience in Maternal Child Health or Pediatrics and Lactation Support necessary.
  • Must have working knowledge of, and skill in, applying the principles and practices of public health nursing, particularly maternal/child health services.
  • Acceptance of practice utilizing client-centered principles and respect of individual choices required.
  • Must demonstrate and maintain any competency required by Caledonian Home Health Care & Hospice.
  • Must maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Computer literacy required. Must have basic keyboarding and computer skills.
  • Must be honest, self-directed, possess initiative and display good judgement and a positive attitude in daily work activities.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively in both oral and written work.
  • Must be able to work cooperatively and in a productive manner with agency employees, clients and the general public.
  • Must be able to carry out the essential functions of the job without risk of harm to the health and safety of self or others.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in lactation support preferred.

  • Must communicate, collaborate, and coordinate care effectively with clients, families, physicians, and other health care providers.
  • Must demonstrate ability to prioritize tasks/responsibilities and complete duties within allotted time. Meets Agency productivity expectations.
  • Demonstrates respect, tolerance, and understanding for client’s dignity, autonomy, individuality and independence. Acts as an advocate for clients and family in meeting their health care needs. Establish trust and confidence in client relationship, while maintaining appropriate boundaries for a therapeutic relationship.
  • Must document the provision of care and services in accordance with Agency policy.
