Maternal and Child Health Nurse (EMCH Rotation)

About The Position

This is an 18-month professional development rotation within the Enhanced Maternal and Child Health (EMCH) team. It is an opportunity for experienced practitioners passionate about equity, early intervention, and intensive family work to develop their skills in a supportive and specialist setting. The EMCH program extends the Universal Maternal and Child Health (UMCH) service by providing targeted support to vulnerable families with children aged 0-3 years. The program offers up to 20 hours of additional MCH support to enhance engagement and facilitate timely intervention, aiming to improve outcomes for infants, children, mothers, and families. The rotation involves 2 consecutive days per week (Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday available) for 18 months and includes a comprehensive orientation program with shadowing opportunities before client caseload allocation.

Requirements

  • Current employee of Knox City Council or engaged via Comensura for 4+ continuous months.

Responsibilities

  • Provide targeted support to families with children aged 0-3 years who are experiencing increased vulnerability.
  • Offer up to 20 hours of additional MCH support.

  • Deliver child-centred, maternal, and family-focused care.
