This position is responsible for coordinating the incoming shipment of supplies between Central Sterile Supply and the Receiving Department. The role involves receiving merchandise, confirming delivery receipt for accuracy, unpacking supplies, discarding boxes, and restocking Central Sterile Supply with product in correct bin locations. The technician will also distribute special request supplies, prepare case carts, and manage inventory for specialty PAR locations using computer printouts and handheld devices. Additionally, the role includes answering phone requests, offering alternative products, assisting in locating unavailable products, and delivering requested supplies to the Operating Room. A key responsibility is the inspection, documentation, and deposition of expired or recalled products, maintaining required logs, and ensuring the storage area is clean and orderly. The technician will also inspect for compromised sterility of products and restock unused medical supplies returned from case carts. Ensuring all supply storage locations are identified with barcode product labels and verifying product identification on a PAR are crucial. The role involves notifying surgery staff of departmental stock orders and backorder releases, informing requisitioners of specialty backorders and expected release dates, and requisitioning, distributing, and maintaining inventory of routine and special order surgical supplies. The technician will complete special projects as assigned and participate in quarterly inventory, ensuring accurate counts and maintaining a clean work area.
