About The Position

The Materials Team Lead is a key contributor within the Materials Department and a primary collaborator with the Shipping and Receiving Department. This role supports and assists with cross-departmental training related to material functions and responsibilities. The Team Lead maintains open, proactive communication with key stakeholders to ensure freight and materials are effectively scheduled, enabling the organization to meet on-time delivery, inventory accuracy, productivity, and customer service objectives.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Ability to obtain certification to drive industrial powered equipment (example: Fork Truck)
  • Must be able to read and write legibly
  • Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks

Nice To Haves

  • Forklift experience preferred
  • 1 year experience in manufacturing preferred

Responsibilities

  • Main contact for customer service, Ryder, and customers.
  • Responsible for the timely and accurate processing of all documents (e.g., export declarations, bill of lading, license plates, certificate of origin, receiving documents, etc.) for a variety of outbound and inbound shipments (Domestic, Canadian, and International). Interfaces with internal and external personnel to address and resolve issues associated with the transportation of products.
  • Sets up all truck pick-ups. Coordinate all freight pick-up with a variety of common carriers and/or customers.
  • Process all shipping documents in a manner consistent with accounting guidelines and the Materials department standards of performance.
  • Main contact for drivers when they enter the facility. Interface with internal and external personnel to ensure an acceptable solution is achieved to properly address situations pertaining to freight rates, modes of transportation, claims, freight pick-ups, etc.
  • Leads the material handlers/receiving associate/cycle counter with daily guidance and supervision.
  • Conducts the weekly shipment meeting with Customer Service, sales and the plant personnel.
  • Build relationships with the customers and transportation companies to create a team environment.
  • Coordinate the preparation of freight with other departmental personnel to ensure the timely loading and unloading of trucks.
  • Perform filing activities per department requirements.
  • Prepare daily shipping reports.
  • Acquire product from all production lines as needed for shipments.
  • Load shipments as needed.
  • Transport production parts to assigned line using tow motor/lift truck.
  • Conduct all location transactions for parts delivered to warehouse and /or production lines.
  • Assist in resolving data accuracy problems associated with any warehouse transactions.
  • Back up responsibilities to include picking in the absence of the material handler for picking.
  • Performs a wide variety of related functions as directed by the Supervisor.
